A Good Practice Guide for Community Food Initiatives

We are currently finalising A Good Practice Guide for Community Food Initiatives. The Guide, funded by Combat Poverty Agency and Department of Health and Children, Ireland, will be available free of charge to all CFIs across the island of Ireland.

The Guide will offer advice on how to set up and run a CFI, including:

1. understanding nutritional guidelines
2. food policy
3. funding
4. budgeting
5. staffing
6. evaluation.

 The guide will also offer advice on how to run a specific CFI, such as:

1. community café
2. community food co-op
3. community farmers’ market
4. community food growing project
5. breakfast club, an after-school club
6. healthier sports club/community centre
7. nutrition education and training. 

The Guide will be supported by an on-line resource on these web pages.
